We Are Loving Xfinity KidsZone!

0

One of our family’s new favorite traditions at night is to turn on KidsZone on Xfinity and choose a fun kids movie or TV show to watch, or have a crazy dance party to all of the kids music videos available on there. We love how easy it is to access all the kid-friendly movies and shows, and that they are Parent Controlled. All our kids have to do to turn it on is to say “KidsZone” into the voice remote, and it will turn it on for them.

Another cool feature is that when in you are in KidsZone, a lot of the normal controls on the remote are automatically disabled, including the voice commands, so your little ones can’t easily get out of it and start browsing through all of the channels. Even if they turn the TV off and then back on, it will still be in KidsZone! It keeps them in there where you know the content is kid friendly.

Xfinity KidsZone is a FREE service that’s included with your Comcast Xfinity HD subscription. It puts all of the kid-friendly movies, TV shows, TV channels, and music videos all in one place. I love that KidsZone is a feature that offers a safe environment for my kids to watch movies and shows. It means I don’t have to worry about what they are watching if I have to step out of the room. We use it every day, AND LOVE IT!

Some of our kids’ favorite movies to watch on KidsZone right now are Zombies 2, Emoji Movie, Descendants 3, The Lego Movie, Lego Ninjago, Lego Batman (Can you tell I have 3 boys? ha ha) and the Kids Bop Music Videos.

Padeli’s Street Greek

0

Are you tired of Hamburgers and Pizza? Are you looking for a family friendly restaurant or new date night dinner spot?

This week we ventured out with the kids and tried the new Padeli’s Street Greek in Lehi. The service was quick, the food was great and plentiful, and the pricing was affordable. The atmosphere was clean, modern, and inviting.

It’s set up in a “Cafe Rio” style ordering system, where you walk up to the counter, tell them what you want, and then customize it as you move down the line. They have menus posted along the way so you can work out what you want before you get up there. We tried the Gyros, Fries, and the Kids Rice Bowls. My Husband and I liked the unique ingredients and sauce options for the Gyros. We enjoyed the Creamy Sriracha sauce, which had lots of flavor and a little kick. My kids ate the Rice Bowls with chicken, rice, and lots of veggies. They really didn’t even eat much of their fries because the bowls were so good (which is rare). The kids bowls were so big that each of my kids happily shared with one of their siblings (happy sharing is even more rare). We recommend giving this place a try when you are in the mood for something out of your normal routine. I think we will make this place part of our routine : )

Smartbeat Breath Detection Baby Monitor

0

Are you pregnant or planning on it? Do you have a newborn? Are you waking up a few times in the middle of the night because your worried about SIDS? If you are, you need Smartbeat in your life. I wish i would of had this when my babies were little. I remember waking up in the middle of the night with my third child and freaking out because he stopped breathing. Luckily, he started breathing again, and I had woken up when it was going on. This product would of helped me keep my sanity by providing some peace of mind, and I definitely would have slept better.

“I was invited to see Smartbeat’s breath detection features demonstrated on this respritory manikin. The accuracy was amazing.”

Here are some of the Features that I love most of the Smartbeat:

  • The Smartbeat tracks movements so small that the human eye can’t see.

  • The Smartbeat captures and detects each breath the baby has.

  • Live video streaming to your phone or tablet.

  • It lets you know that your baby is okay without any cords or wearables.

  • It locks onto your baby’s breathing and keeps constant watch sending data over your in home network.

  • There’s a two way audio that lets you listen in and reassure you that your babies okay.

  • The tilt and zoom feature lets you zoom so you can keep a close eye without having to go in the room and disturbing your baby while it sleeps.

  • It lets you know when your baby has fallen asleep and when it wakes up.

Check out the full details in the video below:

Disclosure:  I received this baby monitor to review for my readers.  All opinions are 100% mine.

I love travel and am always looking for a way out of Utah Valley. I love exploring and the kids love staying in a hotel. Recently we had the opportunity to stay at My Place Hotel in St. George. Here’s three of the things I really loved about My Place Hotel in St. George:

  • Affordable. Vacations already add up so quickly from gas, hotel, food, and activities. I think that the price point at My Place Hotel in St. George is reasonable.
  • Amenities. There is a pool which is really all my kids need from a hotel. However, I really love the kitchenette area. It has a full-sized fridge and freezer, stove top, and microwave which means we can buy groceries from the local store (or they sell some groceries by the front desk) and make most foods that we want to eat. It definitely helps save some money. The hotel also has washers and dryers to help keep all those clothes clean!
  • Breakfast. For $4.49 (current price may change), we could place an order the day before we wanted breakfast and it would be delivered to our refrigerator. Each breakfast comes with an entree, side, and drink. It seemed a little pricey at first but then I thought about every breakfast we go out to and we usually spend $20-30 for the 4 of us. I liked that it was delivered to our room and ended up saving us money. Plus the kids thought it was so fun because they rarely get those breakfast options and get to eat in bed!

My Place Hotel St. George My Place Hotel St. George

The second part of any vacation is figuring out what to do while on vacation. My Place Hotel was located right by the freeway which made it really fast to get anywhere we wanted to go.

Snow Canyon

I had heard good things about Snow Canyon but honestly didn’t know what to expect. We paid the entrance fee and enjoyed the sand dunes first. It wasn’t a lot of rolling sandy hills but there was plenty of sand to play in. We could have spent hours there. When entering from the south canyon entrance, the sand dunes are up on the left/west. There are a couple of parking areas with restrooms.

Snow Canyon, St. George

Then we headed to the lava tubes. It is about a mile walk to the first lava tube. It’s a steep entrance so my 6 and 8 year old did not go into that one. We continued the walk and did explore a different lava cave. Past those areas is a large rock that a lot of families were enjoying. The kids enjoyed climbing all over it.

There are other hikes in Snow Canyon and other places to explore so make sure you take a look at the options and decide which areas you want to see.

Downtown St. George

We typically visit Town Square Park in Downtown St. George. It has a splash pad, carousel, and large grassy areas. Judd’s General Store, a store over 100 years old, is also there. They’re known for their candies and bread sticks and well, just their store in general.

Reservoirs

We visited Sand Hollow and Quail Creek. Ivins Reservoir is also nearby. We enjoyed boating and took our kayaks to the reservoirs.

Sand Hollow Reservoir St. George

The kids enjoyed playing on the beach at Sand Hollow. We bought kids meals at The Beach at Sand Hollow (B.A.S.H.) which came in a pail and with a shovel. The kids loved it. We also got sweet potato fries and ice cream.

Beach at Sand Hollow Kids Meal

Quail Creek had no great beaches but it was a lot more empty than Sand Hollow so we basically had the beach to ourselves.

Quail Creek State Park

Thunder Junction Park

I had heard things about this park but it was kind of unbelievable once we arrived. We went first thing in the morning so it wasn’t very hot and there weren’t many people who had arrived yet. There are multiple play areas and it is an all-abilities park so there are a lot of swings and things to play on that are for all abilities.

Thunder Junction Park in St. George

A section of the park is dedicated to dinosaurs which is fun. A volcano goes off and there’s a huge eating area inside the volcano.

A train runs around the playground park area. It is $2 per person for the ride. It’s not an exciting ride but the kids loved it just the same.

I would recommend going first thing in the morning or later in the evening. While there are shade sails and trees, the playground equipment still gets very hot.

Other things we did included enjoyed a lot of food, played pickleball which is a growing sport in St. George, and spent time driving around.

You can plan your St. George getaway with the coupon discount code “MOMS15” to My Place Hotel St. George. The code is valid through October 17, 2018 and is good for any vacation booked at any time.

Utah Food Review: Z’s Steak & Chop Haus at Zermatt Resort, Midway

0
Z's Steak & Chop Haus Pretzel

This is a sponsored post. Please refer to our disclosure statement.

Zermatt Resort in Midway is one of my favorite places to get away. Sometimes we’ll just make a day trip out of it and enjoy the fresh air and slower pace of life up in Heber Valley. We’ll head to Zermatt, visit the goats in the back of the property, grab some food, and wander around Zermatt Resort and other places in Midway.

Recently we were invited to visit Z’s Steak & Chop Haus. It is located at Zermatt Resort and is easily accessible from the parking lot as it is located near the front entrance of Zermatt Resort with a separate entrance into the restaurant. Z’s Steak & Chop Haus is open from Wednesday to Friday, 5-9 pm.

The Taste of Zermatt Utah Buffet is also available at Z’s Steak & Chop Haus. The buffet is open on Saturday evenings from 5-9 pm.

Z's Steak & Chop Haus Bread

When we went, Z’s Steak & Chop Haus offered a $25 menu. It included an entree plus 2 sides as well as unlimited soup and salad bar that also included a baked potato bar. This is the option I chose. My meal included steak, veggies, and Swiss potatoes gratin. I paired it with a blackberry lemonade as suggested. There was also an alcoholic pairing suggestion that I did not try.

While my entree and sides sound pretty basic, I was impressed with how delicious the food was. It was buttery with delicious seasoning. I also really enjoyed the soup and salad bar. Actually, any place with a good salad bar that is well maintained can win me over. I didn’t end up eating a baked potato as well but next time I’m there for dinner, I’ll be eating a baked potato. It is one of my favorite foods.

Z's Steak & Chop Haus soup bar

My husband got the Ribeye steak. He is pretty particular about his steaks and as I knew we’d be writing about our food, I was a little worried that he would not like it. He loved it though. He loved the flavor and Z’s Steak did a fantastic job with getting his meat medium rare, just like he asked.

Z's Steak & Chop Haus Ribeye Steak

Even though our meal would have been sufficient with just the main dishes, we also ordered a starter and 2 desserts. For our starter, we tried the calamari frit. The word “frit” is French for “fried.” I thought it tasted good and the calamari was not overcooked.

Z's Steak & Chop Haus calamari

Z's Steak & Chop Haus Ice Cream

For dessert we enjoyed a scoop of ice cream and their vanilla creme brulee with fresh berries. The creme brulee was absolutely delicious.

Z's Steak & Chop Haus Creme Brulee

We arrived on a Thursday evening around 6:30 pm. The restaurant only had a handful of people. Our waitress was helpful and the food was cooked to order. The environment was relaxed which meant it was a great little getaway from our kids. However, if you do have kids that you want to take to Z’s Steak & Chop Haus, they have kids menus and pricing and we did see a few children at the restaurant.

If you are looking to visit Z’s Steak & Chop Haus, you can make a reservation here.

We are really excited to offer you two items at a great deal and these deals are just for you. They also expire really soon so make sure you jump on them now!

The first one we should talk about is the tote bag. I have one and I absolutely love it. For years I carried around a diaper bag. I finally got rid of it a couple years ago and moved to a smaller purse but you know what the problem is? I still have kids! I still have kids who “accidentally” bring a million toys in with them to Costco and if I don’t have a bag to carry the million toys, where do I put them? Or I still need snacks for the kids (and me). Anyway, I got this tote bag and use it all the time. It carries toys, blankets, snacks, tablets, and yes, my important things can get lost in that big bag but luckily it comes with a smaller clutch so I can use it separately or make sure my keys and phone don’t get lost in everything else.

Use the coupon discount code “UTAH50” for 50% off of these bags until September 1, 2018!

Exclusive Deal For Utah Valley Moms- 50% off + FREE shipping w/code: UTAH50

The second items that are discounted for you are the graphic tees. I have the “Original” tee. It’s soft and I wear it with jeans or a skirt. If you’re looking for a discount on these tees, use the code “UTAH” to make the t-shirts only $16.95 plus free shipping! Hurry though as this deal is only available through 8/23/18!

Citrus Pear Review: Prepared Meals to Make Your Life Easier

0
Prepared freezer meals

This is a sponsored post. Please refer to our disclosure statement.

Citrus Pear gives you prepared freezer meals. You prepare all of the meals one night at a location near you with a few options here in Utah County. Get meals for your family and Citrus Pear makes it easy!

I don’t know about you but my evenings always tend to get so busy, especially during the school year when school gets out and then kids have classes, practices, and games all week long. Last year we ate out way too frequently in the evening because after practices, classes, and games, it was already 7 pm and I didn’t want to take the next hour to cook dinner.

This year, I’m not going to worry about it because I have found Citrus Pear. Citrus Pear has registered dietitians who create each meal, making sure they are healthy and delicious. Citrus Pear has finally expanded to Utah Valley and I could not be more excited.

I signed up for one class at Citrus Pear. This one was located at Macey’s in Pleasant Grove. Utah County was just recently added to the Citrus Pear’s calendar which is exciting because after talking to some of the ladies in my class, apparently they had been driving up to Salt Lake from places like Spanish Fork and American Fork to attend a class.

After signing up for the class (sign up quickly because they do sell out), when the day arrived, I showed up at Macey’s with my cooler on wheels and everything else was ready for me. They had all sorts of the necessary utensils, knives, cutting boards, and even an apron to wear.

Prepared freezer meals

Once class started, the Citrus Pear dietitian and helpers helped us put together each meal. We all worked on the same meal at the same time. They had the meat already in a Ziploc bag and we added in seasonings. Some items would be passed around like soy sauce while others came in cans so every person received the amount of cans they needed for the meal. And some times they would come around and put the ingredients into your bag. It made putting the meal together so quick and easy.

For 20 small meals (10 unique recipes), plenty for my family for 4, I was there for 2 hours and spent $199. It sounds like a lot of money but if you are like me and keep track of every penny you spend on food each month, this ends up saving us money. Even though I feel like I don’t spend much on food, I do end up spending quite a bit on food. This gets us through every weekday of the month and means I don’t run to the store on the way home from a lesson or stop by the pizza place after practice. It means that we don’t end up ordering take out because it’s 6:30 pm and we need to eat dinner quickly before going to bed or to the next practice. Attending Citrus Pear would be a great activity for a girls night out or just some “me” time away from the family and help with meal planning.

Each meal comes with instructions with how to make it in the crock pot or Instapot and other items you may need to complete the meal. The last 2 we have made, we added some fruit we already had, tortillas, lettuce, and rice.

If you are the type that likes to be prepared and make meals ahead of time, this is for you. Make sure you register online.

British Soccer Camp Review

0

This is a sponsored post. Please refer to our disclosure statement.

The British Soccer Camp comes to Utah yearly and is a highly-anticipated soccer camp. We knew nothing about it beforehand but were looking forward to having my son participate in this soccer camp and see what new skills he could learn.

The first day, I admit, I was a little anxious. My 6-year old son was the one who would be attending the soccer camp and while he loves soccer, he does not love waking up early (loves to sleep in until at least 9 am, sometimes more like 10:30 am) and this soccer camp starts at 9 am. Plus it was a 25-minute drive from my house. And on top of that, they want you to be 10 minutes early. I also have never left my 6-year old for a 3-hour camp before. I was a little nervous about the length and the fact that while my son loves soccer, he also can be a bit lazy and gets pretty worn out after about an hour of practice.

Other concerns I had included the fact that this camp incorporated all ages from 3-18. I noticed that the beginning and the end of the day began with all of the kids playing soccer games together. I wasn’t sure how that would all work itself out and whether this arrangement was really that ideal.

All of that being said, here’s what I enjoyed about the British Soccer Camp:

I actually really loved that all ages played together at the beginning and end of each camp. The older kids did not win every game. And the older kids didn’t necessarily let the younger kids win everything either. From the beginning, all of the kids were sorted onto teams. They named their teams after countries and each scrimmage was played country versus country. The kids of each age group were wall evenly spaced onto each team so every team had an oldest kid who was the leader who made sure the younger kids all felt accepted. The older kids obviously did really well in each scrimmage but were also responsible for making sure everyone was passing and that the younger kids all got chances to kick the ball, pass the ball, and had opportunities to make a goal. It was really incredible to watch. The kids learned the importance of teamwork in a way that is not usually available to them on their own soccer teams.

I loved their reward system. Each day the teams/countries received points for various things like teamwork, completing a take-home assignment (like coloring on their soccer ball that was given to them from the British Soccer Camp), and showing respect. The kids responded well to it and worked together as a team to make sure they received as many points as possible.

The drills were excellent. For drills, the kids were separated by age. At first I was slightly annoyed that my 6-year old was doing the same drill day after day with just varying names until I realized that he’s actually improving on his footwork and footwork is an essential part of soccer. So I ended up loving their drills and games. I also enjoyed watching the other age groups as they practiced making goals, footwork, and passing.

I’m looking forward to next year’s British Soccer Camp. It will definitely be an annual soccer camp that we’ll send our kids to and one that I know will help improve the kids’ soccer abilities while also giving them the opportunity to have a lot of fun and learn some good life lessons (like respect and teamwork).

Oh, and if you were curious as to whether my son made it to each soccer camp and lasted the entire 3 hours, he did and he did fantastic. He had so much fun I don’t think he even knew it was 3 hours long. I’m thinking next summer he’ll be able to do the all-day camp and he’ll have a blast!

I’d suggest signing up early next year. Not only will you get your free British Soccer game jersey (value $34.95) shipped to you for free immediately, but you will also get a brand new skill development App and 20 videos to help your child practice at home.

Keep in mind, your soccer ball, T-Shirt, and poster will be given out at camp.
