Cirque Italia Provo + Giveaway

CIRQUE ITALIA IS THRILLED TO PRESENT THEIR NEWEST AND GREATEST CREATION – AQUATIC SPECTACULAR. YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS ITS DEBUT IN PROVO, UT!!

What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “Aquatic Spectacular”? Water, entertainment, excitement……? You can expect all these things and so much more from the brand new themed Cirque Italia production with its perfectly fitting new title. After six years of enhancements, a rigorous casting selection, and countless performances nationwide, this newest form of Cirque Italia’s innovative and unique “traveling circus” spectacular production is set to be its finest to date.

Aquatic Spectacular came to life all thanks to its imaginative creator Manuel Rebecchi, along with invaluable direction and production management by Chanté DeMoustes. Cirque Italia’s brand-new theme show is an artistic blend of human abilities, technology and the element of water. This one-of-a-kind production combines water fountains, jet-skis, pirates, and more in a fun filled atmosphere all ages are sure to enjoy.

Performers from all over the world have been brought together under the enchanted spiral of the white and blue big top. The merging of their astonishing skills with the poetic element of water has led to the creation of a truly unforgettable experience. Cirque Italia has managed to create a beautifully unique theatrical production by combining the gracefulness of the human body with the calming fluidity of water, along with bursts of power and excitement as well.

Aquatic Spectacular offers two hours of high-end entertainment. Beautiful aerialists dazzle and shimmer on a chandelier high above the ground, but they aren’t the only ones that will draw your eyes toward the sky. You can expect to see contortion in a bubble, a Venetian aerial duo, and even someone hula hooping while in the air. Don’t worry about getting your eyes checked, you aren’t seeing double; there are TWO lasermen. Duo jugglers, duo roller-skaters, the always breathtaking wheel of death………the list goes on and on. It is even possible for a pre-historic dinosaur to make an appearance. Let your imagination wander, because anything is possible in this new whimsical production.

One might be concerned that such a spectacular entertainment opportunity is out of his/her price range, but Cirque Italia is committed to bringing a Las Vegas quality production to your hometown at an affordable price. They also feature many special offers and promotions.

Cirque Italia continues to contribute to the modernization of the performing arts and the circus industry by abiding by a strict animal free policy.

Millie’s Princess Foundation Run 2018 + Discount + Giveaway

2018 Millie's Princess Foundation Run Flyer

When registering for the Millie’s Princess Foundation Run, use the discount coupon code “MOMS10” to receive 10% off of race entries, wrist bands, shirts, and hats! This code expires May 28, 2018.

Millie’s Princess Foundation raises hope, funds, and awareness for local kids fighting cancer. It all started because of a little girl named Millie Flamm who was taken from this world too soon. Millie was a spunky, loving, thoughtful, and caring Princess who battled cancer for nearly half of her short life. Millie chose to be happy and lived by her own Motto “The grass is greener on our side, even with leukemia”. We honor her memory by helping other childhood cancer fighters and we hope you will join us.

We have several events throughout the year with our 7th annual Princess Run (adult 5k, kids 2k) and carnival coming up on June 16th at Daybreak’s SoDa Row. At the Princess Run we raise money for two local families, a Prince and a Princess, chosen through an application process. We are all volunteers so every penny we raise goes directly to these families. Every family battling cancer goes through so much, and that is no different with our families this year. Six year old Prince Nixon, who is fighting Osteosarcoma, just underwent a 9 hour surgery to amputate his leg and has at least two more surgeries in front of him. Little Princess Millie is fighting cancer for the second time at just one year old, and she is currently recovering from a recent 20 hour surgery to remove her tumors that has left her paralyzed.

Here is a short video that introduces the Run, Prince Nixon, and Princess Millie.

Find out more information on the run and how you can sign up and be involved in this upcoming event at the Millie’s Princess Run.

Be My Neighbor Day

Free Family-Friendly Event
Date: June 30
Time 10 am – 2 pm
Location: BYU Broadcasting Building (701 E University Parkway) in Provo

When iconic children’s television host Fred Rogers was a boy and saw scary things in the news his mother would comfort him. “Look for the helpers” she would say. “You will always find people who are helping.”

On Saturday, June 30th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the BYU Broadcasting Building (701 E University Pkwy, Provo, UT 84602) KBYU Eleven will celebrate Utah helpers and the 50th anniversary of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” with Be My Neighbor Day. During this free four hour community event, young children and their families will be able to participate in fun activities geared towards helping them become more familiar with, and better appreciate, the helpers in their lives.

Eleven is beyond excited for this event and wants to see you there! Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy a day with firefighters, doctors and nurses, police officers, teachers, farmers, mail carriers, members of the armed forces and community volunteers. Before you leave don’t forget to take a picture with Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat, characters that continue Fred Rogers’ world of make believe in the animated show “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.”

As KBYU Eleven will be consolidated with BYUtv starting on July 2nd, “Be My Neighbor Day” will be the station’s final gift to the community we have loved and served for more than 50 years. It is certain to be an event that many will not forget.

El Mexiquense Tacos Al Pastor

There are a lot of Mexican restaurants to choose from in Utah Valley but have you tried El Mexiquense?

El Mexiquense Locations:
50 N 1200 E, Lehi
262 E. Crossroads Blvd., Saratoga Springs

The restaurant serves classic – and authentic – Mexican fare with favorites like chimichangas, tacos al pastor, and molcajetes. The interior of the restaurant is clean and inviting. It boats a few large TV sets, so guests can enjoy the latest popular sporting event.

El Mexiquense Grill also serves killer elotes: a popular Mexican street food of corn on the cob, spread with mayonnaise, herbs, and cotija cheese and served hot. Guests especially like the salsa bar – a buffet of homemade condiments where diners can try multiple different flavor and levels of spicy heat.

>> El Mexiquense Menu

I actually had not until more recently and am so glad I finally made the trip to try it! It is a new favorite for tacos! Their tacos al pastor  are something to talk about and their Cantaloupe juice is one of my favorites ever.

Their new Saratoga Springs location opens May 18, 2018. From 1-3 pm, get 1 free Taco Al Pastor with your purchase!

Spoonful of Comfort – Soup for When You Can’t Be There

0
Spoonful of Comfort
This is a sponsored post. Please refer to our disclosure statement.

Spoonful of Comfort is a Utah-based company that is helping people get soup and comfort to those you care about most.

You can order soup, rolls, and cookies and send them to the person you care about. With different flavors of soup and cookies, you can customize your soup package to how the person would like it. There are other products to help you give the gift that your person deserves.

Spoonful of Comfort’s story:

In October 2007, I received the phone call from my mother that she had been diagnosed with Lung Cancer.

I was shocked, scared and panicked. The hardest part about hearing the news was that she lived in New Brunswick Canada and I lived in Florida. More difficult still, I had just returned the day before from a trip visiting her. With two young children in school, I couldn’t just turn around and go back.

I was so upset and felt helpless being so far away. I needed to “do something.” I looked into sending flowers or fruit, but nothing seemed appropriate. I wanted to show her how much I cared, and in some way comfort her.

I immediately thought of chicken soup – it’s what she (like many mothers) used to make to comfort me. And the idea for Spoonful of Comfort was born.

Just six weeks later, I lost my mother.

During her final weeks, she got lots of soup and other comforts from many of her 11 siblings and close friends. She never had the opportunity to try my soup.

However, in her honor, it is my goal to help others with sick loved ones. It is my promise to make and deliver a Spoonful of Comfort to your loved ones with as much care as if I were sending it to my own mother. They’ll feel better and so will you. Whether you have an ailing mother, a child away at college with the flu or a grandchild with an ear infection, Spoonful of Comfort can help you show that you care with gourmet soup gift baskets.

We tried he soup, rolls, and cookies and they were so delicious. The soup came in a big jar. We were able to pour it into a saucepan, heat it up quickly, and the rolls were already done so it made for a really easy, fantastic dinner.

Take a look at Spoonful of Comfort’s website and find that perfect gift.

The GetOutPass is a new way for you and your family to experience and enjoy Utah! There are a lot of free admissions that you can enjoy weekly, monthly, and yearly. Once you have the pass, no additional fees are required.

However places like FatCats allow you to visit once a week which is still saving you a lot of money with the yearly pass!

There are two options for the GetOutPass. You can buy it monthly at a rate of $9.95 or yearly at a rate of $109. This allows each pass to enjoy each attraction that is associated with the pass (see below).

>> Buy your GetOutPass, use “MOMS15” for 10-20% off

As an example, the price for a family of 5 to visit Lagoon would cost over $300! That’s just one day of entertainment! Each GetOutPass comes at the cost of just $9.95 a month (for 12 month contract) or $109 upfront for the entire year! And that is before you use “MOMS15” for 15% off of your yearly fee or 10% off monthly!

We just tried out our GetOutPass and loved having the freedom to go visit an attraction we don’t normally get to visit. Redemption was super simple. I pulled up GetOutPass on my phone, logged in, scrolled to the venue I wanted to visit, showed the cashier, they pressed redeem, and we were quickly on our way to fun!

Summer Camps: Jump Start Your Child’s Love of STEM With LEGO

0
Play Well with Lego Science Camps
This is a sponsored post. Please refer to our disclosure statement.

STEM or Science, Technology, Engineering and Math has become a common term in most family households. The STEM initiative is taking over America inspiring young minds everywhere. With summer camp season quickly approaching there’s a great way to jump-start your child’s love of STEM as early as age 5! Hands-on learning is an amazing way for kids to delve into STEM concepts. According to a study done by the National Training Laboratories, we retain 75% of what we do compared to only 5% of what we hear! It’s no surprise then that experiential learning allows us to absorb way more information.

At Play-Well TEKnologies LEGO-inspired STEM summer camps, our main focus is learning through play. We explore, solve problems, and express ourselves through LEGO. Our curriculum is designed by engineers and refined by teachers, but the kids just think it’s fun! Each camp includes a circle time before building and after building. Our instructors use this time to explain STEM concepts while illustrating how these principles apply to our LEGO engineering. Kids are able to build and experience these aspects of STEM through LEGO.

Play Well with Lego Science CampsChildren as young as age 5 learn how a pulley works, what friction is, how and why interlocking patterns are stronger and so much more! Our higher level camps include more complicated curriculum like pneumatic systems, gear assemblies, and real-life engineering challenges. At Play-Well TEKnologies we strive to build problem-solving skills and provide an opportunity for creative expression. We aim to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists by fostering a greater appreciation of how things work. Our camps encourage the qualities of inquisitiveness, self-reliance, and self-confidence in children.

Play-Well camps offer several types of programs and themes in the greater Provo area including locations such as Orem Fitness Center, Provo Rec Center, Cedar Hills Community Center, and Pleasant Grove Rec Center. We also host camps across Salt Lake County, as well as in Farmington and Park City. We offer many of our basic Intro to STEM and STEM Challenge courses but the fun doesn’t stop there. Our LEGO-inspired camps include Super Hero Engineering, Minecraft Engineering, and Star Wars Jedi Engineering. Themed classes add that extra level of engagement, allowing kids to explore their favorite worlds through play.

To find a camp location near you please visit our website, or you could reach out to the Utah Area Manager Sofia at [email protected].

By giving a sandwich to a local non-profit for every sandwich sold, we share a future with the places we do business in, and create sustainable change for the people who live there.

Four local partners for each store are donated to! Each of our partners is fighting hunger in their own way. Although we partner with many incredible programs targeted specifically at feeding the community’s food insecure populations, not all of our partners are food banks and soup kitchens. Our partner organizations work with a variety of clientele including: individuals facing homelessness, seniors, victims of domestic violence and rape, low-income families, recovering addicts, people living with HIV/AIDS, children and youth, Native American populations and more. Visit each store’s location page to learn more about their specific local partners.
