Lindon Fire Station Tour & More
Lindon wants you to get curious about a new fire station! The City will hold a public open house on Thursday, April 30th from 6-8 pm at the Lindon Community Center to present concept plans and gather input. We’ll have drawings for 10 free copies of ‘Curious George and the Firefighters’ book, and the current Fire Station across the street will be open for tours – so bring your kids!

30 Days of Sex Talks Review
There is a 3-series book called “30 Days of Sex Talks.” There is one for ages 3-7, one for ages 8-11, and one for ages 12+.
I was raised by older adults who grew up a time where intimacy was not talked about much and they passed that on to me. I remember feeling so uncomfortable inside because of, probably, how my mother felt while talking to me.
Now being a mom of two, however, I understand the importance of starting early and talking openly about things. “30 Days of Sex Talks” is a series of three books that help empower your child with knowledge of sexual intimacy. The first book starts out simple and really can be started at a young age. It helps a parent ask questions about their bodies and helps parents answer questions. The second book is perfect for slightly older children (8-11). It brings up puberty, maturing, and relationships. The third book talks a lot more about the hard stuff – pornography, relationships, and what is appropriate for their bodies at their age.
These books are so great because it allows parents to have open discussions about sex with their children. As I read through each book it made it all sound so simple and I felt as though I could reach some of these goals I set for myself while reading them. In fact, as school is slowing down, I look forward to using these books more often throughout the day during the summer to make sure that my children understand their bodies and why some things are okay while others are not.
I don’t want to spoil these books for you, because I really would love to go more in depth about almost every single chapter and why I loved it, but I’ll let you read it for yourself and educate and empower your children. Animal Trackers Club Monthly Box Review
Animal Trackers Club and Space Scouts is a monthly subscription program. Animal Trackers is for children ages 3+. It is specifically designed for a pre-reader to beginning reader. Each month, your child will “track” a new animal through age-appropriate instructional materials designed to encourage hands-on, creative learning.
The box we received was full of zebra facts and activities. We learned all about the basics of zebras, dressed up as a zebra, made pictures of zebras, and it included a zebra magnet and zebra animal plastic toy that the kids love.
My daughter is 4 years old and loves animals and crafts. She also loves learning. This type of box is perfect for her for engaging, learning, and then enjoying crafts. I loved that it included worksheets but because she does them at school, I think she enjoyed the crafts (pictured above) a lot more. I thought it was also a blast that it all comes in a little lunch box. The kids have stuffed their lunch box full of animals and carried them around for almost a month. It even went on vacation with them along with the zebras we received in the Animal Trackers box.
If you are looking for a unique activity monthly, especially as summer is approaching, I’d recommend this subscription box. Plus, by the way, they’re located out of Utah Valley!

Family-Friendly Hike, Battle Creek Falls
Battle Creek Falls hike is just up 200 E in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Follow 200 East all the way East which opens up to a parking lot to Kiwanis Park and the trail is just south of the park. The trail is just over a mile long, 1.2 miles, to the waterfall. You may continue past the waterfall to more hikes but as we have little children, we decided to not continue more than about a half mile up the trail.
The trail to Battle Creek Falls is very family-friendly. In fact, we took our dog along with us and she even made some friends along the trail. The trail to the falls is almost entirely uphill. Once you arrive at the falls, you climb (if you’re my son)/walk a little ways down to get to the falls. It opens up to an area where you can sit and relax. We took a small lunch up and enjoyed it there. Many others found little trees to sit under or rocks in the water to enjoy their lunch.
