This week the Utah Valley Moms blog is featuring things to do over Spring Break in Utah with kids. Today’s feature is the Provo Beach Resort located at The Shops at Riverwoods in Provo, Utah.
We had the opportunity to visit Provo Beach Resort. Currently they are offering Mommy & Me Passes for only $10 from 11 am – 2 pm. These Mommy & Me passes are perfect for children! They include:
2 carousel rides (reg. $1.50 each)
Mega playground pass (reg. $4)
$5 game card
Small Dole Whip (reg. $1.50)
Another discount deal at Provo Beach resort includes the Eat & Play Combo. You can enjoy a free $5 game card with the purchase of a regular combo meal at the Pier Cafe.
I took my kids for Mommy & Me around lunch time. We stopped at the front booth and got the kids wristbands. The employee said that I didn’t need a pass, just the kids, which was great! We first played games. My kids love the games at Provo Beach Resort and I love how clean they always are. I watched an employee going around cleaning off games and I know it’s an odd thing to love, but I really did appreciate it. My son loved the riding games and the Jurassic Park game. He could have played all day on just arcade games.
Then we went upstairs to enjoy the mega playground. There are slides, a rockwall, things to hang off of, and things to climb. It was a great space.
After, we went back downstairs for the carousel ride. And finally got the Dole Whip the kids had been waiting for.
Other things to do at Provo Beach Resort include:
Flowrider
Laser Tag
Ropes Course
Bowling
Croquet
Lazer Frenzy
Toddler Town
You can get an all-day pass which means more savings for $30 per person.
If you plan to go to Provo Beach Resort over Spring Break, I’d recommend going for the Mommy & Me pass or getting an all-day pass. They both save you extra money and with these passes, you can spend the majority of your afternoon at Provo Beach Resort!

This week the Utah Valley Moms blog is featuring things to do over Spring Break in Utah with kids. Today’s feature is the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium.
The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is located in Draper, Utah. It offers a variety of exhibits, presentations, feedings and chances to be up close and personal with the animals, and various events.
We had the opportunity to visit the aquarium recently and found it a great place to spend the day with the kids. As you enter, if you are buying general admission tickets, enter through the doors to the left and if you have a yearly membership or want to purchase one, enter through the doors to the right. Once you are inside, it is like a whole new world.
There are 5 exhibits: Discover Utah, Journey to South America, Antarctic Adventure, Ocean Explorer, and Expedition: Asia. As you enter, you can choose which exhibit you’d like to explore first.
We started off in the Discover Utah section. There, you will find many fish and creatures you may regularly see while living in Utah. The best part of this exhibit is being able to look into the little streams that they have created to look for fish. My kids enjoy spending time searching for living things and seeing how many fish they can find.
Our favorite section, however, is the Ocean Explorer exhibit. In this exhibit, you will see sharks, turtles, and be able to walk through a 40-foot tunnel while all sorts of fish swim over you and around you.
The Expedition: Asia exhibit is a fun one where we saw Clouded Leopards, giant fish, and Asia otters. It is a newer section and a fun one to explore with huge windows to see into the animals’ living spaces and watch them play. My little ones could have spent hours going from window to window, enjoying all there was to see in each one.
The Journey to South America features a tropical feel with birds and even a 17-foot waterfall. The kids love once you reach to the top and they cross the bridge made of ropes. It’s a little too scary for some children but most enjoy it nonetheless. In this exhibit, be prepared for a humid climate.
The last exhibit is the Antarctic Adventure. It is a fun place to explore and learn, as well as enjoy the jellyfish exhibit and watch the only penguins in Utah. The penguin section is fun for the kids. They can watch the penguins waddle around and watch as they dive into the water and swim around.
To add to the exhibits, you can catch a 3D or 4D movie for free. The theater is located on the 2nd level. The short films usually are about animals. Check the desk by the theater for times for that day.
If you are looking for an up close and personal experience, you can register for a Penguin Encounter or Feed a Stingray experience for an extra cost. There are also Animal Feeds and Animal Encounters that are free throughout each day. Check in with the Information Desk just after the front entrance for times and locations for each of those. We have watched Penguin Feedings and it’s fun to watch them receive their food and get checked.
With all the Aquarium has to offer, more than likely you and your family and friends will feel a little hungry. The Aquarium has a full-service cafe. There, you can buy smoothies, pretzels, muffins, or entrees like sandwiches, soups, and kids meals. With a membership, you get a small discount off of your purchases. Make sure you grab some of the little chairs and table waiting by the high chairs for the kids. They love sitting at a table just their size.
The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm and open until 8 pm on Monday Nights.
Loveland Living Planet Aquarium Discount
Every Monday is Family Night and tickets purchased after 4 pm are $5 off. Get more information on ticket prices and membership pricing at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium.
The Affiliate Blogger Conference (ABC) will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 10-5 pm at The Leonardo (209 East 500 South, Salt Lake City).
This post may contain affiliate links. Each time you purchase using our unique code or link, we receive a small portion of the sale at no cost to you.
If you have ever been interested in affiliate marketing, this is the conference to attend. You don’t have to be a well-established blogger/influencer to attend this conference. If you have wondered at all about how to make money off of selling other people’s things (items, events, etc.) this is where you’ll want to find out the best way to go about making some income from affiliate links.
Affiliate links are unique links given to an influencer. Each time someone buys through your link, you get a portion of the sale. For example, if you link to a cookbook on Walmart through an affiliate link you had been given and a person buys that cookbook, you would get a portion of the sale, usually 2-5% of the sale. Some items that people purchase may not be available for an affiliate sale but reading through the terms of each affiliate account will help you know how much you make from each sale. It’s an easy way to make some extra money because all you have to do is provide people with a link.
At this particular ABC we will break out into small groups at the end of the day, according to your level (beginner to advanced). An expert will be assigned to each table. Everyone in the group will get assistance putting a sponsor’s affiliate link or other affiliate link on an existing post. Everyone who comes will get to practice. No one should leave confused or unsure. Please plan to stay if you need mentoring or want to swap ideas. We want ABC to give you practical experience so that you know exactly what to do.
The Holi Festival of colors on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 will be at the Sri Sri Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah.
Over the years, it has become a huge celebration from all faiths all over. Held in India every year in late February or early March, Holi Festival was inspired by an ancient Hindu legend celebrating the triumph of good over evil. The two-day festival also marks the beginning of spring, a season of rebirth and vivid colors. To that end, the revelries erupt in a flurry of bright hues as festival-goers toss colorful powders at one another.
Stateside, the celebration takes its cues from the original fest. Attendees stock up on dry powders provided by the temple, then douse their hair, clothes, and cheeks in vibrant pinks, greens, blues, and violets. Multihued, they can roam the grounds interacting with fellow revelers, dancing to live music, taking yoga classes, participating in uplifting mantras, and sampling Indian cuisine.
Pricing
Outside colors will be confiscated and not be allowed on the festival grounds. We have five assorted vivid colors (violet, green, yellow, pink, & orange ) in 100g bags at $3 per bag. Most people prefer to purchase four bags of assorted colors pre packed for $10. Ingredients are corn starch, permissible food grade dyes, & fragrance. They are environmentally friendly, beautiful colors, and nicely scented. Least likely to stain people and clothes if maximum amount is shaken out dry before showering or washing.
Please do not throw colors directly in others’ eyes or mouth. There will be dust masks 2/$1, and bandanas for $6.
There will be “Color Throws” every hour, from Noon. Please carefully read the FAQ section in this regard.
Kids 12 and under are free. Register online for $5.
Holi Festival Discount
Get Holi Festival of Colors package for 2 for $25 (normally $36.50). Each package bought includes multiple entry wristbands for 2 people and 10 bags of assorted colors.

Last night, March 9, we were able to attend Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Enchantment. It was probably the first time ever that we were that early to Disney On Ice so it was fun to actually see what happens at the beginning of Disney On Ice!
First of all, there were 3 and 5 minute warnings before the show started which was great because since we had arrived early, we decided to walk the hall area where they sell food and toys.
“Toy Story” started off the show followed by “The Little Mermaid.” There was about a 15 minute intermission and then “Cars,” ending with “Frozen.” I was most disappointed in “Cars.” I was excited to see what they would do with cars going around on the ice but they followed a different story with fewer characters (which makes sense because these cars were pretty big). “Frozen” never disappoints. I love the music and the story so I could probably watch it over and over.
One of the favorite parts of “Toy Story” for my family was the music and Woody flying with the kite. Any flying involved always gets kids excited and a little bewildered which is adorable. This version of “Toy Story” is quite long, about 30 minutes, which is probably a little too long for some kids but a little boy sitting near me was in a full on Buzz Light Year costume and enjoyed every single second of the show. This story is based off of “Toy Story 3.”
I’ll be honest, I missed most of “The Little Mermaid” because I had a crying child with me for the whole thing but if it’s anything like other shows, “The Little Mermaid” is always adorable, especially with Eric and Ariel. The version in this show is cut pretty short and is right before intermission.
The parking is always crazy downtown but right now they are working on the parking garage at The Gateway Mall. I don’t know about the South parking garage but the North parking garage is being worked on so you can park there for free this weekend!
If you are looking for some tips on how to improve your experience at Disney On Ice, check out this post about tips for attending Disney On Ice.
If you are wanting to catch this show before it leaves town, head to our previous post about Disney On Ice and make sure you grab some tickets! The last show is on March 12, 2017 at the Vivint Smart Home Arena.

If you’re a foodie like I am, then you really enjoy a unique, good pizza. I had driven by Tenney’s Pizza multiple times as it’s in the same parking lot as Costco in Lehi but had never tried it.
We ended up trying the Kicken Chicken and the Chicken Alfredo. I always love to try Chicken Alfredo pizzas but usually they get over heated and dry. Not this one, however. It stayed moist through the cooking and was delicious. The Kicken Chicken is slightly spicy but for those who eat spicy foods often, you may not be able to taste it. We included the special Tenney’s crust with the Kicken Chicken and that was really good. It’s a little extra but worth it. The crust on the pizza is thinner which was perfect for me. There are other crusts to try but I always enjoy being able to taste my pizza flavors and not just crust.

Every Thursday, we here at Utah Valley Moms want to bring you some ideas of what to do and where to visit. Try it out this weekend or try it out in the future. Either way, we’re getting out to explore Utah Valley each week and want to show you some of the things we find.
Around Eatery is a newer restaurant to Utah Valley that went into the Traverse Mountain area in Lehi. There are a lot of great companies up there at the Point of the Mountain. While I had heard many great things about Around Eatery, I had not tried it before.
When you walk in, you head to the left and order off of the menu to the cashier. The manager, Stephanie, helped us choose some delicious foods. I asked her what she would recommend and she ended up recommending almost the entire menu after about 5 minutes of me looking over the menu. Each entree is unique and different from the others on the menu so it’s hard to choose just one meal for the day.
After ordering, we chose a seat and grabbed a drink while we waited for our food.
We tried three separate meals. The first one is the Short Rib Tortillas. They contain: 24-hour cooked beef short ribs, pears, healthy avocado puree layered with a zesty lemon-lime vinegar cabbage slaw in flour tortillas. I am always up for anything put into a tortilla and this did not disappoint. I was a little worried about the pears but it turned out to be really complimentary to the other flavors so I was pleased.
Next up is the Ramen Burger. It is a turkey and duroc pork burger with crisp ramen patties in place of the bun. It includes lettuce, chedar cheese, camraelized onions, and an Asian plum sauce. We added on the fried egg. It was the oddest thing. My brain told me, “Stop, this is weird.” But my taste buds loved every once of it. The ramen bun was incredible and all the flavors meshed perfectly for a “normal” burger.
The last thing I had to try was the pretzel grilled cheese. It has a house-made pretzel bun with Jarlsberg, Muenster, and Irish white cheddar cheese with a slow-cooked tomato jam. I am a cheese lover and this was probably my favorite. We let the kids eat some of it but I ended up sneaking most of it into my mouth.
Stephanie let me know we had to try the desserts. I’m normally not one to order desserts but I would have regretted it if I had not.
The flourless chocolate spongecake intrigued me because it is gluten free. While I obviously don’t live a gluten-free life, I do enjoy being gluten free every now and then for the health benefits. Also, because it’s become such a popular thing, a lot of restaurants have made some pretty incredible gluten-free foods. The flourless chocolate spongecake is no exception. It has a warm chocolate hazelnut center.
The other dessert that I couldn’t pass up was the Toasted Ice Cream Panini. It is vanilla ice cream pressed in a panini maker into a Hawaiian Sweet Bun with strawberries, mandarin oranges, or Oreos. It was amazing. I actually had a dream about it the other night. It is toasted so crunchy on the outside and warm while cold and creamy in the middle.
Around Eatery also offers other sandwiches, soups, and salads. Again, I really like the diversity and that they are not your normal salad, sandwich, soup restaurant with a similar menu. Stephanie mentioned that they had just changed their Ramen Burger a bit to improve it. I like the idea that they would change the food a bit to improve it.
Have you tried Around Eatery yet? What did you enjoy? Follow us on Instagram for more photos: @utahvalleymoms or my personal @utahvalleymom.
It’s January 2017 here in Utah County (and all over, obviously) and we’re already half way through!
I may or may have not taken a really long vacation to Maui and while I did think about the fact that I should probably post this while I was gone, I just couldn’t. But I’m back, it’s snowy and I’d like to share with you a few events you can attend with your family here in Utah Valley.
