Jaker’s Jack-O-Laterns

0

Jaker’s Jack-O-Laterns is located at 950 W. 400 S., Springville, Utah. It is open Monday through Saturday beginning at 9 am.

PC: Jaker’s

There is a $1 admission for anyone 3 years and older from 2 pm-7 pm on school days and 9 am-7 pm on Saturdays and days that school is out (i.e. Fall break).  But it is free admission from 9 am-2 pm on school days which means for all of your little toddlers and young children, it’s a free day out at the farm!

Here is a list of what you can expect to see at Jaker’s:

Ave’s Amazing Hay rides: Free

Corn pile: Free

Slides: Free

Zaner’s Boo Zoo: Free

Haunted Cave: Free

Straw pyramid: Free

Straw mazes: free

Pumpkins: $2-$12

Deedle’s Pumpkin Drop: $2 a throw

Maicee’s Maize of Madness: $3 for anyone 3 years and up

Horse Rides: Mondays from 5:30-7 and Saturdays from 10-7 (except Halloween 10-2) $4

We went on a school morning and although there were groups of preschools there, it really was not that crowded. The kids enjoyed the slides, straw maze, petting zoo, hay ride, and the corn pile for almost two hours.

Word of caution: please be careful on the hayride. Everyone should be seated on the hay bales, not with feet dangling over the edge, and if it is too crowded, wait for the next ride. Also, please be respectful to the property. They have had major vandalism and even smaller vandalism such as pulling down pictures and things hanging from the ceiling in the Haunted Cave.

So again, go on a school day before 2 pm to get in for free! Otherwise, it’s only $1 per person, which by the way, is a steal!

Giveaway: Rowley’s Red Barn, Santaquin

Rowley's Red Barn
This is a sponsored post. Please refer to our disclosure statement.

Rowley’s Red Barn in Santaquin, Utah (901 S. 300 W.) is a family-owned business. Throughout the year you may stop in to eat some delicious fresh foods, buy some unique candies and other treats, and during the Fall, you may buy a pass that allows you to participate in many fun activities, including a corn maze, hay ride, apple shooting, and picking a pumpkin from the large pumpkin patch.

As I had never been there before, I took my family having no idea what to expect other than I had heard good things about it. When we arrived, we got our tickets/stamp on our hand and then waited in line for a hay ride. This hay ride (with actual hay that somehow got down my pants) took us through the orchard and into an opening down the road where all of the activities were held. There were tractor bikes, a hay tower to climb on, apple shooting, apple box maze, a large slide, a sand box, a pumpkin patch, tractor train ride, and a corn maze. The apple shooting was a clear favorite but with my climber, the huge hay tower was also really fun. I kept having images of kids falling from the top but all the kids stayed safe and no one got hurt so I was happy with that.

If you have never been, I would suggest planning on at least 2 hours there at the farm. I would also make sure you take plenty of water (although they do have beverages on site for purchase) and to make sure you take appropriate clothing for the day. I didn’t realize how sunny it was going to be and ended up getting slightly burned. As the hay ride takes you far away from your car, make sure you take a backpack or bag with the items you’ll need or plan to take the slow ride back and forth from the parking lot.

The barn (which is where you park your car) has food available for purchase. Ice cream, on the hot day we stopped by, was a clear favorite among many of the guests while kids (and my husband) were very attracted to the pails of hard candies and other treats around the store. I have heard wonderful things about their jams and apple cider so if you’re looking for local foods, I’d recommend trying those as well.

Tickets are $8 per person or $35 for a family of 5.

Mondays – Fridays from 3:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M. with the last wagon leaving the barn at 7:30 P.M.
Saturdays from 10:30 A.M. – 8:30 P.M. with the last wagon leaving the barn at 7:30 P.M.
Hayrides leave every 15 minutes.

Special hours for October 15th, 16th, and 23rd will be from 10:30 A.M. – 8:30 P.M.

Color Me Mine, Draper

0

We had the opportunity to travel a little North to Draper to visit Color Me Mine for a family night. Although my husband and I had gone on a date night about 6 years ago together, we hadn’t gone together or even with the kids since then.

Monday night happened to be family night which meant there was a $4 sitting fee instead of the regular $6-10. Our kids only spent a minute or so looking through all the options until they knew the exact piece they wanted. That’s what’s great about kids though, they don’t over think most things. When I choose, I go up and down, up and down, then spend an extra 5 minutes trying to decide. My kids have been wanting a piggy bank so when they saw the wide collection of banks, they were sold.

Sammy, the worker, made sure we were finding everything okay and was willing to help us with paint, stencils, stickers, and anything else we needed. She was fantastic and even took some time to make sure my daughter was able to and help my daughter to get a little snowflake stencil onto the penguin.

We got little pallets of colors for the banks and the kids enjoyed painting their ceramic pieces. When they were done, we left everything on the table as instructed and were able to head out for the evening. As a mom, I’ll just tell you right now, it was so nice to not have to clean up after the kids’ painting.

Visit Color Me Mine, 131 E. 12300 S. Suite R-100, Draper

It will take about 5 days for them to finish our pieces so stay tuned to our Instagram (@utahvalleymoms) to see the finished product! I’ll just tell you right now, I am beyond excited to see my son’s monster truck. That thing has some pretty interesting colors on it.
