Midway Ice Castles Discount 2015-2016

0

If you’re planning to go to see the Midway Ice Castles at all this season, make sure you grab this crazy good steal on Groupon.

For those who have not been before, the owner and others harvest icicles and create these magnificent ice castles with tunnels and lights inside the ice. It’s quite extraordinary. If you go towards the beginning of the season, you’ll get to see how they are working on adding more to it. Towards the end of the season, the creation is completed, however, it may begin to melt and doesn’t look quite as spectacular as when it’s freezing cold continuously.

The Art of Norman Rockwell at BYU

0

The art of Norman Rockwell is available for viewing at Brigham Young University for free! Just make sure you reserve your free tickets online. This exhibit is available through February 13, 2016.

One of the most popular American artists of the past century, Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) was a keen observer of human nature and a gifted storyteller. Rockwell’s contributions to our visual legacy, many of them now icons of American culture, have found a permanent place in our national psyche. For nearly seven decades, while history was in the making all around him, Rockwell chronicled our changing society in the small details and nuanced scenes of ordinary people in everyday life, providing a personalized interpretation—albeit often an idealized one—of American identity. His depictions offered a reassuring visual haven during a time of momentous transformation as our country evolved into a complex, modern society. Rockwell’s contributions to our visual legacy, many of them now icons of American culture, have found a permanent place in our national psyche.

Admission to American Chronicles is free, but due to the anticipated popularity of the exhibition, tickets will be required. Patrons can reserve tickets online in advance at rockwell.byu.edu, starting November 10. Standby tickets will also be available on-site at the BYU Museum of Art on the day of admittance.

You will be able to select a date and time for your tickets as you reserve them online, and the Museum will email your tickets for you to print out at home.

Last night we had the opportunity to view Disney On Ice Presents Dare To Dream at the Vivint Smart Home Arena. The theme with Dare To Dream followed Snow White, Cinderella, and Rapunzel as they dared to do something outside of the norm.

The kids loved it. They were enthralled with all of the characters and Rapunzel’s story had a lot of aerials which the kids loved. They were impressed with the high flying and all of the tricks the performers were doing.

This performance continues through Sunday so get your tickets now for Disney On Ice Presents Dare To Dream!

This is a couple of months away but you’re going to want to get your tickets now! The first 500 tickets will go for only $6 each, after that they will be $10 adults and $8 kids. This event will be on February 6, 2016.

Biggest Best’est Party of the Winter!

Friends, you gotta get on this one quick!

Winter Palooza (the biggest Winter Party EVER) is Saturday Feb 6 at South Towne Expo Center, in Sandy

It’s their 10th semi-annual and their celebrating HUGE!

There’s going to be tons to do!

Coconut Climbing Trees—what??? Yes, it’s a climbing tree to race to the top, hit the buzzer first and beat the other climber on the other tree….how fun is that?

4V Bungee Trampolines.  Ok, I admit, I have never done this.  You jump on the tramp and the hydrolics lift you higher and higher each time, with the bungee cord catching you on the way down. Have you tried it?

A huge favorite—Ropa-phobia, ropes course.  Kids (and yes, adults) get harnessed up, climb up and across the obstacles to repeal off the other side.  You can race your kids or just watch the little dare-devils have their own fun!

Bazooka Blasters Arena.  New this year! Load up and blast out.  Hide behind the barricades and shoot away. What a fun time to get even with your kids LOL!

Laser Tag in the Dark. They’ll have the huge inflatable laser tag arena again too.  Go into the darkness, find your kids and zap them (or at least their vests).  Show them who’s boss!

Dartside Nerf Tag  is coming out and setting up a play area.  They have great, easy to load guns with little, circular disks that fly and tag out kids.  Have you been up to Syracuse to play yet?  Super Fun!
24 foot rock climbing tower will be back. Honestly, a bit intimidating when you look straight at it but super fun once you get your arms and legs climbing up!

Tons and tons of characters too, so bring your camera!  Ice princesses, Rapunzel, Cinderella, Batman, Spiderman, Captain America, Thor, Ironman just to name a few.

National Toy Companies coming in to play! International Arrivals, art supply company is flying in to do crafts, Geomag is setting up play areas for kids to build with “geomag” marbles and magnets.

National Kendama companies are coming in to do demos, tricks and show your kids how to do it themselves!

Live Performances all day long! There will be live animal shows from Scales and Tails Utah and Creature Encounters all throughout the day.  Lance Nelison and Elias “Lefty” Carress will be doing magic shows and bringing kids up on stage to win prizes.

Staker Parsons huge sand trailer is back.  They are bringing out their huge sand trailer filled with fresh new, clean, soft sand and buckets, shovels and toys.

Lots Lots More!  We will have our 2 man Ferris Wheel back, our mechanical bull, human wrecking ball arena……Oh there’s facepainting, balloon artists, super heroes, princesses, star wars characters, the Drum Bus.

Winter Palooza is a FULL Day out!

Mark your calendar, Saturday February 6th at South Towne Expo Center.

Disney On Ice Presents Dare to Dream
This is a sponsored post. Please refer to our disclosure statement.

Disney On Ice Presents Dare To Dream is coming to Vivint Smart Home Arena from November 12-15, 2015.

We will be there opening night, November 12 at 7 pm. If you’re in our section, you’ll see us. We’ll be the ones coming in at least 20 minutes late because we had gymnastics from 3:30-5 pm, dance from 5-6 pm, and at some point had to eat dinner, make it through “rush hour” traffic from Orem to Downtown Salt Lake, find parking, and make it on time. As we’ve had to do this the past 2 times we had something at 7 pm in Salt Lake City and have not made it any time close to start time, guaranteed you’ll see us walking in late.

Anyway, find out more about Disney On Ice Presents Dare To Dream on our latest blog post and we’ll see you there!

Donate a 13 oz. or larger jar of peanut butter to Chick-fil-A on November 4, 2015 from 5-8 pm and get a free 8-count nugget meal!

This is one of my favorite donations of the year because we always have lots of peanut butter jars left over from buying case lots in September and October. Each jar of peanut butter at the case lot this year was $1 so we’re getting an 8-count nugget meal from Chick-fil-A for only $1!

Last Weekend for This Is The Place Heritage Park’s Halloween Events

0
This is a sponsored post. Please refer to our disclosure statement.

This Is The Place Heritage Park offers some incredible events for Halloween. We happened to go over Fall Break when it was still warm and it was fantastic.

I would encourage you to attend Little Haunts on October 31 at This Is The Place Heritage Park. The kids dress up in their Halloween costume and get to trick-or-treat around the park. The kids had a blast. We also stayed for a Costume Parade which was adorable. Afterwards there was a candy cannon which the kids were so excited about.

Unfortunately for me, I lost my kids during that time and then I was one of “those” parents who were moving kids out of the way after the candy landed on the ground, although not because I was trying to get candy for my kid, but because I had finally spotted my children and was trying to get over to them before I lost them in the crowd again. That is for sure the last time I ever turn around in a large crowd to walk away from my kids a few steps to grab the stroller. Next time I’ll just lose the stroller and worry about it later.

My kids loved the pony rides and the train ride. But just a hint, if there’s a lot of people at the north train stop (by the restaurant), walk to any other train stop to get onto the train. There was a lot of pushing, shoving, and upset parents. Luckily I was with my mother who is quite old and just walked up to a bench on the train and got on. I mean, we were there before almost everyone else so we deserved it, but still, having an old person with you who people can’t get too mad at helps.
