If you love the Harry Potter series, you’re going to love this. The Provo City Library is hosting a whole day of Harry Potter fun on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 9 am to 6 pm.

The Provo Library will screen the first 3 films which are all rated PG. Bring blankets and pillows and enjoy some or all of the movies. Crafts will also be provided throughout the day for all ages. If you’re hungry, food trucks will be in the parking lot from 12-2 pm.

The film schedule will be: “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” 9:30 a.m.; “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” 12:20 p.m.; and “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” 3:25 p.m.

It’s that time of the year again! Get ready to enjoy 2 of the best movies of Sundance for free!

Free Sundance screenings are available for Utah residents. There will be a limit of 2 tickets per person per screening with a maximum of 4 tickets total in Park City, Ogden, and Sundance Resort.

Please note that Locals Online Ticket Pickup will also begin on Saturday, January, 16, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.

Tickets are required and we suggest getting tickets for a time you want in advance. Tickets are released the Tuesday prior to each scheduled free day.

Christmas Lights on Temple Square

Each holiday season, my family visits Temple Square, usually twice assuming that we are in town for both times. The first time we visit the Christmas Lights on Temple Square is the first night the lights come on. The whole area is completely packed with people but it’s absolutely magical. The second time each year we visit the lights on Temple Square is Christmas Eve. It’s a nice way for my family to enjoy Christmas lights.

The holiday season is by far the most magical time of the year to visit Temple Square. The 35 acres completely transform the day after Thanksgiving every year, when the Christmas lights are lit, decorations are hung and several nativities are placed on the grounds for the first time for the holiday season. Free concerts and performances are taken to a whole new level. A variety of local groups—from schools, to church choirs, to bands—perform daily at six different venues. And of course the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert and First Presidency of the LDS Church Christmas Devotional attract visitors from all over the world. Coming to Temple Square during Christmas has become a tradition for locals and visitors alike. These lights are available until January 3, 2016.

During your visit to the Christmas Lights on Temple Square, make sure you stop by Nauvoo Cafe at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Inside is delicious soups, sandwiches, salads, pot pies, and hot chocolate. After walking around Temple Square, it’s a nice way to warm up with some hot chocolate and enjoy the inside of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building with the gorgeous Christmas tree and if you make your way up to the 10th floor, you can have some incredible views of the lights. The Joseph Smith Memorial Building is conveniently located on the south side of Temple Square.
