COUNTDOWN

Where: Provo Towne Centre

When:  begins at 6 p.m.

Wristbands: $3 for children 12 and younger, $4 adults; children 3 and younger are free with a paid adult. Wristbands are an additional dollar the day of the event.

Where to purchase: Buy wristbands at the Winger’s in the Provo Towne Centre Mall or at the Provo City Parks & Recreation Office at 351 W. Center St.

What: Singing competition, bands, concessions, crafts, face painting, games, laser tag, contests, karaoke, photo booths, fireworks. Find full coverage in the special section in today’s paper.

 

N.Y.E. Newphoria

Where:  UCCU Arena at UVU

When:  9 p.m.-1 a.m.

The Ballroom

Where: Salt Palace

When: Today, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday 6 p.m.-midnight

What: Sound system, light show, DJs and beach balls, this is a fan favorite.

 

Bouncetown

Where: Salt Palace

When: Today, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday 6 p.m.-midnight

What: A huge collection of inflatable playgrounds — perfect for kids and grown-ups alike.

 

Salt Lake Film Society

Where: Broadway Centre Cinemas, 111 E. 300 South, Salt Lake City

When: Today and Saturday, 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

What: Short films from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University, along with selected 2011 award-winning shorts.

 

Fear No Film EVE

Where: Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (formerly Salt Lake Art Center, 20 S. West Temple)

When: Today, every hour on the hour, 6-9 p.m.; Saturday 6-10 p.m.

What: “Baby New Year” tells stories of rebirth, catharsis, and awakenings while “Father Time” presents the welcome souvenirs and burdensome baggage collected with the passing of time.  Each Fear No Film EVE program will contain some adult content. Fear No Film is presented annually as part of the Utah Arts Festival in June and includes more than 60 short films.

 

Utah Museum of Contemporary Art

Where: 20 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City

When: Today, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday 6 p.m.-midnight

What: Artist-made karaoke with locally created music videos of new and old favorite songs. Paint by numbers and shapes, and more.

 

Laughing Stock Improv Comedy

Where: Off Broadway Theatre, 272 S. Main St., Salt Lake City

When: Today, 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.; Saturday, 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., 10 p.m., 11 p.m.

 

Clark Planetarium

Where: Hansen Dome Theatre Screenings
