Camp Floyd State Park hosts Camp Floyd Days on Labor Day Weekend, August 31st and September 2nd, 2013. This fun event allows visitors to experience camp life and participate in several activities performed by soldiers of Johnston’s Army. Events include battle reenactments for kids, encampments, stagecoach rides (Monday 1:30pm to 3:30pm), firearm and cannon demonstrations, marches, drills, 1861 period games, and photos in period uniform. The activities will be conducted 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on August 31st and September 2nd. All activities are free. The museum will be open on Sunday, September 3rd, but no activities will take place.
Standard museum entrance fees are $3 per person or $9 per family. Food concessions will be available to purchase at the event.
Lantis Fireworks & Lasers, a local company, will be kicking the weekend off on Friday, August 30th with a fireworks show. Lantis Fireworks and Lasers is proud to support their local community and looks forward to entertaining its citizens. Doors open at 6:30pm and music starts at 7pm. Fireworks will be shot by Lantis from 8pm until 10pm. Food will be available to purchase. Parking is $5 a vehicle.
