We stopped by The Shops at Riverwoods’ splash pad in Provo last night and as always, the kids there were having a blast. There are two splash pads at the Riverwoods – one on the west side near the Provo Beach Resort and Apricot Lane Boutique and one on the east side near La Jolla Groves and The Manor, right next to the pavilion.
My favorite thing about the Provo Shops at Riverwoods splash pad is that there are two splash pad areas. The west side splash pad is for everyone. There are smaller arches are on the outside so the younger kids seem to have a blast venturing out to those and running back to parents, whereas, the older kids run through all the water in the middle. The east side splash pad only has the arches which is really nice for the younger children. Usually there are only young kids at the east side splash pad which is really nice for all the young ones and it’s a safer place for those who are just learning to walk, like my son was a couple weeks ago.
My least favorite thing about this splash pad is the lack of fun toys. They added in the one quite a while later after it was built so I’m hoping they will continue to add to it. However, in situations like these, bringing your own water toys from home works great. Cups and bowls, for the little ones, seem to be great toys as well. Speaking of toys, you can currently also buy water toys from Apricot Lane for $1-3.
Other things about the splash pad: There are no nearby restrooms. The public restrooms are between the two splash pads on the outside of the shops, so not very convenient. There is plenty of space to sit near the splash pads, whether it be on the flower bed ledges, the picnic tables at the Provo Beach Resort, or at the tables in front of Malawi’s Pizza. Shade, on the other hand, is limited. A few trees make up the nearby shade for both sides, while the tables (if you’re lucky enough to get one) with umbrellas are on the west side. There are some food options right next to the splash pads if you’re hungry.
