Come meet Yeah Samake, a BYU graduate and frontrunner for President of Mali. Hear Yeah tell in his own words about growing up in one of the poorest villages in one of the poorest countries on earth, how he came to America, found the LDS church, and then returned to Mali to serve his people.
You and your children will hear how Yeah walked to school every day with an empty stomach, determined to get an education. He will show you America through the eyes of an African with no money in his pocket, expound on the blessings of a BYU education, and explain the difficult decision to return to Mali with his family. He will talk about receiving 86% of the vote for mayor in a 90% Muslim country, and how he changed the culture of corruption to turn his city into a model of the rule of law in Africa. He will also tell you about the courageous moment when he challenged the current president of Mali and decided to run himself.
You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the freedoms and abundance we enjoy in America, more hope for Africa, more faith that one person can indeed make a difference, and an increased love for God’s children around the world.
