Free Family-Friendly Event
Date: June 30
Time 10 am – 2 pm
Location: BYU Broadcasting Building (701 E University Parkway) in Provo
When iconic children’s television host Fred Rogers was a boy and saw scary things in the news his mother would comfort him. “Look for the helpers” she would say. “You will always find people who are helping.”
On Saturday, June 30th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the BYU Broadcasting Building (701 E University Pkwy, Provo, UT 84602) KBYU Eleven will celebrate Utah helpers and the 50th anniversary of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” with Be My Neighbor Day. During this free four hour community event, young children and their families will be able to participate in fun activities geared towards helping them become more familiar with, and better appreciate, the helpers in their lives.
Eleven is beyond excited for this event and wants to see you there! Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy a day with firefighters, doctors and nurses, police officers, teachers, farmers, mail carriers, members of the armed forces and community volunteers. Before you leave don’t forget to take a picture with Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat, characters that continue Fred Rogers’ world of make believe in the animated show “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.”
As KBYU Eleven will be consolidated with BYUtv starting on July 2nd, “Be My Neighbor Day” will be the station’s final gift to the community we have loved and served for more than 50 years. It is certain to be an event that many will not forget.
