I had the great opportunity to visit the Woodbury Art Museum a couple of weeks ago. I had never been before but was quite impressed that there was a beautiful museum hidden away in University Mall (Orem) on the upper level next to Nordstrom’s.
Their new “Sensing Brazil” and “Dichos: Words to Live, Love and Laugh by in Latin America” is currently open to the public and it is fantastic. It will remain open until November 30, 2011.
Being a person who wants to see the world, but by no means has the funds to support my dream, this was a great opportunity to get a small taste of Brazil and Latin America.
The “Dichos: Words to Live, Love and Laugh by in Latin America” was a fun exhibit. It included photos of phrases on vehicles with corresponding bumpers next to the pictures with the actual words on them. It’s very colorful and some of the expressions are really funny.
Saturday, November 5, the museum is hosting a family night! It will include fun activities for all ages focused on Latin American traditions, including carnival masks, pipe cleaner skeletons, tissue paper flowers, and Romero Britto inspired pop art from 11 am – 2 pm.
