Rowley’s Red Barn in Santaquin, Utah (901 S. 300 W.) is a family-owned business. Throughout the year you may stop in to eat some delicious fresh foods, buy some unique candies and other treats, and during the Fall, you may buy a pass that allows you to participate in many fun activities, including a corn maze, hay ride, apple shooting, and picking a pumpkin from the large pumpkin patch.

As I had never been there before, I took my family having no idea what to expect other than I had heard good things about it. When we arrived, we got our tickets/stamp on our hand and then waited in line for a hay ride. This hay ride (with actual hay that somehow got down my pants) took us through the orchard and into an opening down the road where all of the activities were held. There were tractor bikes, a hay tower to climb on, apple shooting, apple box maze, a large slide, a sand box, a pumpkin patch, tractor train ride, and a corn maze. The apple shooting was a clear favorite but with my climber, the huge hay tower was also really fun. I kept having images of kids falling from the top but all the kids stayed safe and no one got hurt so I was happy with that.

If you have never been, I would suggest planning on at least 2 hours there at the farm. I would also make sure you take plenty of water (although they do have beverages on site for purchase) and to make sure you take appropriate clothing for the day. I didn’t realize how sunny it was going to be and ended up getting slightly burned. As the hay ride takes you far away from your car, make sure you take a backpack or bag with the items you’ll need or plan to take the slow ride back and forth from the parking lot.

The barn (which is where you park your car) has food available for purchase. Ice cream, on the hot day we stopped by, was a clear favorite among many of the guests while kids (and my husband) were very attracted to the pails of hard candies and other treats around the store. I have heard wonderful things about their jams and apple cider so if you’re looking for local foods, I’d recommend trying those as well.

Tickets are $8 per person or $35 for a family of 5.

Mondays – Fridays from 3:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M. with the last wagon leaving the barn at 7:30 P.M.
