Update:  July 4, 2013 fireworks

The 4th of July is almost here which means planning where to go to see fireworks is upon us.  My husband and I will be heading to Sugar House Park up in Salt Lake but there are other places in Utah County to see fireworks other than the big ones in Salt Lake.  (Did you know that Sugar House Park’s fireworks were cancelled due to lack of funding?  Thank you RC Willey for donating $25K to keep the tradition of Sugar House Park’s fireworks going!)

  • Orem Owlz Game, Friday, July 1 – Orem Owlz Ballpark, 970 West University Parkway – Game begins at 7:05 pm; fireworks are immediately after.  Tickets are $2-10 for the Owlz Baseball Game, children under 3 years are free.
  • Stadium of Fire, Saturday, July 2 – LaVell Edwards Stadium, 1650 North Canyon Road, Provo – Concert begins at 8 pm, fireworks will begin at roughly 10 pm.  In the past, I have gone to a field around 900 E. and Stadium Avenue (just West of the LDS Temple) to watch the fireworks, however, there are plenty of parking lots around the Stadium to park at to enjoy the fireworks.  Just make sure you plan to stay late or leave just before the fireworks are over or else you may be stuck in traffic for a long time (in the past, friends who lived 5 minutes away from the stadium were stuck in traffic for an hour).
  • Pleasant Grove, Monday, July 4 – Pleasant Grove Jr. High School, 810 N. 100 E., Pleasant Grove – Fireworks will begin at dark around 9:30 – 10 pm.  The fireworks can be seen from many locations in the area other than the junior high school.  Parking is unpleasant so make sure you arrive early or are willing to walk.  Free admission.
  • Lehi, Monday, July 4 – Thanksgiving Point, 3003 North Thanksgiving Point Way, Lehi – Gates at Electric Park will open by 6:00pm and concessions will open at 7:00pm.  Fireworks start at approximately 10:00pm and this year will be set off from the North side of the property.  Make sure to bring a blanket and to be patient with all the traffic at the end of the fireworks display!  Free admission.

These are the firework displays I know of in Utah County.  If you know of any more, please share!
